Opinion: Facebook an “Arrogant, Overly Ardent Suitor”

Mary Schmich of the Chicago Tribune says the only people who unequivocally love Facebook are those who are paid enormous sums to work there. For the rest of us, the social networking site “has come to feel like an arrogant and overly ardent suitor, one who assumes that in exchange for some cool gifts he can monopolize your time, own your loyalty, spy on you, demand, demand, demand.” I’d add needy to that list list judging by how many times a day I’m asked if I “like” something. Schmich was prompted onto her soapbox after giving a speech and having her entire audience cop to a love-hate relationship with Facebook.
