Match.com To Check Users Against Sex Offender Registry

Add this to the why-weren’t-they-already-doing-this department: Match.com is just now implementing a background check of its users against the national sex offender database. The LA Times says the change was implemented after a woman filed suit against the dating website this week, charging that she was sexually assaulted by a man with whom she was matched. The company says it hadn’t required users to undergo the check before because of “fears that such checks would be flawed and could give a false sense of security.”
More from the LA Times about the woman who says she was assaulted by her Match.com match.
