Why Does NBA Favor Gay Slurs?

Chicago Sun-Times sports columnist Rick Morrissey asks a provocative question in this morning’s paper: why is “faggot” the NBA’s slur of choice? Kobe said a couple weeks ago; Bulls’ center Joakim Noah followed suit this week. So what gives? Morrissey traces the word back to the playground courts where he says it’s the “ultimate insult, the nuclear bomb.” He writes: “At its kindest, it means you’re a wuss. You’d think by now someone would have come up with something different, something more creative, something dealing with another topic.”
