The TV Name Game

The New York Post plays the name game in today’s paper. Specifically, where do TV characters get their names. In the case of Modern Family, daughters Alex and Haley are named after creator Steve Levitan’s real daughters. The Big Bang Theory‘s Sheldon and Leonard were named for The Dick Van Dyke Show producer Sheldon Leonard. And things are decidedly more highbrow over at How I Met Your Mother—Robin Scherbatsky’s last name comes from a character in Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina.
