Study Reveals Killer Cats

Ever wonder what cats are thinking about while they’re curled up sleeping? Probably murder. A new study estimates that domesticated and feral cats are responsible for about 3.7 billion bird deaths in the U.S. each year. That’s much higher than previous estimates, which put the death toll in the hundreds of millions. USA Today says that’s in addition to the small mammals cats prey on, anywhere from 6.9 billion to 20.7 billion a year. Stunned wildlife experts say the voracious appetite of the country’s cats could impact the survival of certain species.
