Navy Goes to Battle with Feral Cats


The LA Times has some great details about the Navy’s $3-million, 18-month effort to eradicate a group of unusual enemy combatants—a colony of feral cats—from one of their bases. The plan involved more than six agencies and hours of pre-recorded meows, but it finally came down to the “skills of a retired bobcat hunter as well as some 250 custom-built traps that flashed computer alerts to researchers miles away.”
