Man Sues Nevada DMV Over ‘GO PALIN’ Plate

It’s not uncommon for DMVs to deny vanity plates they deem inappropriate. But a Nevada man says there’s nothing wrong with the phrase he submitted for review: GOPALIN. State officials disagreed, calling the request “too political.” The Reno Gazette-Journal says they’ve since acquiesced, but the man has still decided to sue.  According to his lawsuit, the man claims he also submitted ‘GO OBAMA’ to the agency, which approved it without reservations. A spokesman for the DMV says it’s baffling that he decided to file suit six months after receiving his ‘GOPALIN’ plates; the man’s lawyer says the suit “seeks a permanent injunction against the DMV interpreting the laws and codes to prohibit political statements, and seeks legal costs and ‘any other relief found to be appropriate.’”
