If you’re trying to lose weight, take John Lennon’s advice. A new study has found that when dieters imagine the foods they are trying to avoid they stand a better chance of actually doing so says the LA Times. To be successful, researchers say dieters must imagine their cravings in “painstaking detail.” This technique triggers something called habituation, a “psychological phenomenon that explains why we are able to get used to things that initially seem annoying.” Tips to master “imaginary eating” include focusing on one food and eating in a quiet place.
