For many people, a fear of weight gain hinders their ability to quit smoking. But a new study has found that those who begin a weight loss program and a smoking cessation program at the same time are more likely to succeed at both reports the Boston Globe. The results became statistically insignificant after three months but on average, the study found that those who participated in both programs lost an average of 2.3 pounds more than those who only tried to quit smoking; they also had more success staying away from cigarettes.
