Go to Hawaii, Bring Back a Dog

Visitors travelling to Hawaii can bring home a lei, a tan…and a dog, says the San Francisco Chronicle. Hawaiian officials are encouraging tourists to bring back one of the many hunting dogs that are clogging the state’s shelter. A deal with Alaska Airlines means the dogs can straight from the plane to SPCA for adoption—all they need is a traveling companion. The dogs, which are bred for hunting feral pigs in Hawaii, are often abandoned after their hunting days are over.
