Carbs Played Big Role in Dog Evolution

Good thing the Atkins diet is a relatively recent trend. There’s an interesting article in the LA Times about the role that carbohydrates played in wolves’ evolution to dogs. A new study has found that a dog’s ability to digest carbs, much of it from scraps left by humans, facilitated their domestication. The first appearance of dogs is something evolutionary biologists still debate but it is widely agreed that the process started when some wolves realized if they hung around humans, they could eat their leftovers.
