FAA Grounds Dreamliner Fleet

The government grounded Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner yesterday as a series of technical problems continues to plague the fleet. It’s the first time the FAA has taken such strong action since 1979 when it grounded the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 fleet. A faulty lithium-ion battery has been identified as the source of the problem. The Seattle Times says now the real question is “how long it will now take to prove something that was supposed to be already proved — the safety of the plane’s battery and power systems.”
