Zookeepers Get Inventive To Keep Animals Cool

Here’s something I did not do in an attempt to cool down yesterday: suck on a blood Popsicle. The Boston Globe says that’s how the big cats at a local zoo beat the heat yesterday. Zookeepers have to think of innovative ways to keep their charges cool when the temperature soars. Even animals who are designed to withstand sweltering weather can fall victim to heat-related injuries. I’d also pass on the frozen bugs, though a mist bath sounds like it might be quite nice.
