Year of the “Retrosexual”


According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, metrosexuals are so last season. This is the year of the “retrosexual,” a movement hellbent on putting the “man back into manhood.” Whereas those who subscribed to the metrosexual tribe were thought to be channeling their inner girl, the paper says retrosexuals are more interested in emulating masculine icons like “Cary Grant, Teddy Roosevelt, or Ernest Hemingway.” But that doesn’t mean that adherents to the retrosexual lifestyle want to retrofit their modern women: “Instead, they want to hold doors open and pay for dates without worries of chauvinism, even as they split the kitchen duties.”
