Will Microsoft Cloud “Cannibalize” Office Market?


Microsoft is reaching for the clouds says the New York Times. In an attempt to compete with Google Apps, the company is unveiling a cloud-based version of their popular Office Suite today. Analysts say Microsoft is entering tricky territory by offering cloud-based tools—even though businesses tend to prefer them because they cost less, Microsoft runs the risk of “cannibalizing” its Office market, which is its biggest money-maker: “If Microsoft stumbles, it really opens the door to Google.”
