White House Turns Beige After Oval Office Renovation

The New York Post says after the latest round of Oval Office renovations, ‘The Beige House’ might be a more apt description of the president’s working quarters. As one design expert puts it,  “It’s beige on beige on beige! It’s almost a little too flat, a little too plain.” In addition to new couches and hand-painted wall coverings, President Obama’s design team added personal touches like a bust of Martin Luther King Jr., photos of his family and a pen holder made from the wood of a ship used to fight the slave trade. All of the new additions are made in the USA. The Post says surplus funds from the president’s inauguration fund were used to cover the costs.

The Chicago Tribune has some more pictures and an inventory of what’s new and what’s stayed the same.
