White House Petition Program Yields Strange Requests

Give the people what they want, sang the Kinks decades ago. But what if what they want is to nationalize the Twinkie industry? Or starting building a Death Star by 2016? Those are just two of the requests that the Obama Administration has fielded since launching a White House online petition program. “Aimed at encouraging civic participation,” the Washington Post says other ideas include allowing military personnel to put their hands in their pockets, removing Jerry Jones as the owner of the Dallas Cowboys and giving federal employees a vacation day on Christmas Eve.
