What We Buy When Traveling For Work

Flying on the company dime isn’t so bad, says the Wall Street Journal. Curious about the lives of business people, the Journal analyzed about 8.3 million expense reports to see what people spend money on when they travel for work. On average, people spend about $39 on a meal for one. But interestingly only about 60 percent of meals were charged to the company credit card, perhaps a way to open “the door to more-creative accounting when filing expense reports.” Also interesting: business travelers spent more money on meals in Bangalore ($27) than in Detroit ($23) or Newark ($17).
