VIDEO: High-Speed Train Crash in Spain Kills Dozens

A high-speed train was going more than twice the speed limit when it derailed and crashed in Spain yesterday, reports the New York Times this morning. There were about 200 people on board and authorities say at least 60 are dead. The driver reportedly told supervisors he was travelling 180 km/hour (about 110 MPH) in a zone with an 80 km/hour speed limit. The impact was so forceful that one of the train’s car shot up 15 feet in the air.

Spanish newspaper El Pais has video on the actual accident; it’s below as well.
