‘Up in the Air’ Sheds Light on Airline Perks

There’s a perfect intersection of USA Today‘s worlds in this morning’s paper: a business story about a movie about frequent fliers. George Clooney’s new movie, “Up in the Air,” brings to light the elusive and secretive world of “top tier” airline perks. Writes the paper: “Though American and its competitors are tight-lipped about membership and qualification levels, as well as specific benefits, several major airlines maintain unpublished programs that, in some cases, operate as de facto “top tiers” to existing frequent-flier plans.”
