Reporters have been positioned outside the hospital that will welcome the royal baby for days now, and have turned to interviewing themselves as their wait grows longer. Media experts on the other sign of the pond say the story has captured the nation’s attention the way it has because it “ticks all the boxes”: “Attractive young people. Her first baby. A future monarch, third-in-line to the throne, even if it’s a girl. The first grandchild of the still-mourned Princess Diana.”
