TV Ratings Touchdown for NFL Games

American TV viewers, it seems, are ready for some football. The New York Times says no other type of programming comes close to the ratings that the NFL has been pulling in recently. Not only do NFL games make up 20 of this year’s highest-rated telecasts, the league has managed to find new viewers “at a time when little or nothing on television increases its audience.” Media experts say football is the ideal sport for TV because of its “high quotient of action and natural breaks for commercials.”
