Traffic Study Reveals Men a Road Hazard

The New York Post has some fascinating data from a new study about pedestrian traffic accidents in Manhattan. Despite their reputation as bad drivers, women caused far fewer accidents than men. In fact, over a four-year period, men were responsible for 80 percent of the pedestrian accidents in the city. Time of day also plays a factor. The study found that accidents that occur between 3 and 6 am tend to be the deadliest. And November and December revealed themselves to be the worst months.

(On the male driver statistic, it’s worth noting a statistical hole in the report: the study notes that 57% of cars in New York are registered to men, but doesn’t offer a statistic on what percentage of driving is done by men.)
