Rapper Punks Compton Police with Tweet

On Friday, Compton-born rapper The Game sent out an innocent-sounding message on Twitter. He posted a phone number and encouraged his 580,000 followers to call if they were interested in a music industry internship. The LA Times says an overwhelming number of them did. The only problem? The number posted on Twitter happened to be the help line to the Compton police department. Police, who described the deluge as “a symphony of misery—you’ve got a multitude of phones ringing simultaneously,“say they initially thought something was wrong with their phone lines and called the phone company for help. It wasn’t until one officer went on Twitter, saw the message, and asked the rapper to take down the post. Hours later he did. But police are now trying to charge him with “disrupting law enforcement.”
