Dieters, put down your straws. A new study from the University of Texas has found that diet soda makes you fat. The New York Post says those who drink more than two diet sodas a day gain five times more weight around their mid-section—almost two inches—than those who abstain. Researchers think that artificial sweeteners may trigger the brain into overeating. In a separate study, researchers proved that aspartame, a popular artificial sweetener, causes blood sugar levels to spike.
