“Slurpee Summit”


Turns out I’m not the only one who dreams of a Slurpee Summit. My fantasy is based wholly on a deliciousness quotient. President Obama, however, suggested the idea in a bid for bi-partisanship. And hours after he joked that a round of the icy drinks would be a good way to thaw his relations with Republicans, 7-Eleven voiced their support for the idea says USA Today: “We don’t want to be opportunistic, but nothing has ever been this big for Slurpee.”

The company, which has owned the Slurpee brand, immediately contacted the White House offering to provide blue and red varieties of the iconic drink for top Democrats and Republicans. They even offered to bring purple, “since that’s what you get when you bring red and blue together.”

Regardless the outcome, the paper says 7-Eleven has seized onto the president’s words as a once-in-a-lifetime marketing opportunity: “How often do you get the leader of the free world to associate your brand with all of these positive elements?”
