‘Shamanic Cheerleaders’ Find Success with New Agey Chants

Using bunches of organic kale as pom-poms, a group of women have found success poking fun at the Bay Area’s New Agey aesthetic says the San Francisco Chronicle. Called the Shamanic Cheerleaders, they are routinely invited to “bring their divine pep” to local events. The women say they hope that their audience looks beneath their jokey routines to see a “serious intention to raise eco-consciousness and find enlightenment by making everyone feel like a winner.”

Here’s a sample of one of their cheers, complete with parenthetic details provided by the Chronicle. Scroll all the way down to see video of the squad preforming their signature cheer:

“Ready? Om-kay!” (striking a meditating Bodhisattva pose)

“Don’t be a worrier! (hiding their heads in their hands)

Just be a warrior! (yoga warrior pose)

Don’t be a worrier!

Just be a warrior!

Have faith!

You rock!” (insert air guitar riffs)
