Set Your Own Credit Card Limit

You’ll soon be able to request that your big credit card purchases be declined by MasterCard. New York Times personal finance columnist Ron Lieber says MasterCard is about to unveil an option for user-controlled spending limits. If you try to make a charge that puts you over a monthly cap, you’ll be alerted. Eventually you’ll be able to set up an option to have the over-limit purchase declined outright. Similarly, if you have a particular weakness, such as fancy restaurant meals, you can set a per-charge cap that would steer you toward hamburger rather than steak.
