Running 26.2 Miles, Barefoot

I can’t imagine myself ever running 26.2 miles. And I can’t fathom doing it without shoes on. The New York Times says the latest trend in marathon running is competing sans shoes. Fans say running unshod is easier because it mimics the way the body is designed to move; podiatrists warn that modern humans run on very different surfaces than our ancestors.  The says people should worry about puncture wounds and added stress on the legs and knees.

For those who want a happy medium, several companies are producing those crazy-looking shoes that mimic the feel of being barefoot.
