Quick Pic: Only Guy Cleaning Up on Wall St..

The front page of the New York Daily News this morning is classic. Photographer Marcus Santos got a picture of a guy sweeping the street next to the Wall Street bull sculpture. The adjecent caption says: “After another 500-plus-point in the Dow, he’s the only the cleaning up on Wall Street.”

On a related note, the LA Times looks back at a study from 2009 to try and explain the madness going down on Wall Street this week. Apparently, scientists were able to correlate stress about the stock market with poor financial decision making. When participants were put in a stressful situation (dipping their hand in ice-cold water) they tended to make riskier financial decisions. The researchers say when stress is present, people tend to “fall back on more basic, automatic thought processes.”
