Police Catch Alleged Picasso Art Thief

Mark Lugo was “enjoying an evening with friends,” when police arrested the 30-year-old New Jersey man for allegedly stealing a Picasso sketch days earlier. The San Francisco Chronicle says Lugo had removed the sketch from its frame and had packed it to send to an unknown recipient. The friends he was staying with apparently had no idea they were housing a fugitive. Police say if they’d taken anymore time to crack the case, the sketch “would have been in a FedEx box somewhere.” They identified Lugo after tracking down the cabbie who drove him away from the crime scene.
