NSA’s surveillance program hits the opinion pages this morning with a wide range of commentary. The Wall Street Journal defends the program, describing it as “data mining” and calling it “legal and necessary.”
The New York Times takes the opposite opinion, penning an angry editorial that excoriates the Obama Administration for condoning a program that “fundamentally shifts power between the individual and the state, and it repudiates constitutional principles governing search, seizure and privacy.”
The New York Daily News responds with a cartoon: A waitress offers her phone number to an NSA official. His response? “Already have it.”
