Opinion: GOP at a Dead End Over Shutdown

In the Washington Post, Dana Milbank says the fact that House GOP leaders had a mortician lead them in the singing of Amazing Grace before Tuesday’s meeting was fitting, since they are “burying the republican brand and America’s standing in the world.” Milbank says if the Republicans get blamed for the shutdown and a default, the only way they’ll preserve their majority is with embalming fluid.
