Only in Florida: Rising Golf Cart Insurance Rankles Retirees

The Orlando Sentinel has an interesting only-in-Florida problem on its front page this morning. The state’s retirees are grumbling about a new drain on their fixed income: rising golf-cart insurance premiums. Apparently traditional golf cart top out at 20 m.p.h. and don’t have to be registered or insured. But a new crop of faster carts that can go up to 25 m.p.h. require insurance, which costs about $600 a year.
