One in 12 Sports Fans Leave Game Drunk

Some people go for the ball. Others, it seems, just go to get drunk. A new study has found that forty percent of fans who attend a professional sports game leave with a little booze in their systems. And eight percent leave after they are legally drunk says the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

That may seem like a modest number but the study’s authors say that could mean thousands of people heading to their cars with a significant amount of alcohol in their systems. Drunk driving wasn’t addressed in this particular study, which was released yesterday by the University of Minnesota’s School of Public Health.
