“O” is for Anonymous

The book is called “O.” The author? No one knows. The book, a novel imagining President Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign, is said to have been written “by someone who “has been in the room with Barack Obama.” But no one is sure how true that statement is. According to the New York Times, publisher Simon & Schuster has asked several well-known political writers to say ‘no comment’ when asked if they are the author. Joe Klein, the author the the previously anonymous, “Primary Colors,” ignored that request.
A review in this morning’s Washington Post is middling, writing that the book’s “primary colors fade to soft pastels.” Reviewer Ron Charles writes, “‘O’s’ dramatization of a presidential race may shock an eighth grade student council member somewhere in Kansas City, but most of us will wish that the author had pursued his themes with a little more satiric bite.”
