The American Dream has been downsized. As contractors draw up blueprints for post-recessionary houses, they are trying “to distinguish among what home buyers need, what they want and what they can live without” writes the Wall Street Journal. The size of a new single-family house has fallen to 2,392 square feet, from a high of 2,507 square feet in 2007.
