Netflix Expansion Bad for Bad Movie Fan

You’ve probably heard about the big deal Netflix signed last week, one which significantly increases the number of movies that customers can stream from the site. That’s good news for movie buffs. But what about for lovers of cinema’s guilty pleasures? Asks the Washington Post: “With an influx of good titles, will we have less of an occasion to watch ‘Class of Nuke ‘Em High’, ‘Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter’ or ‘Carny’?” If the traditional by-mail Netflix is like a carefully planned meal, then the ‘Watch Instantly’ features is like “like the midnight refrigerator raid where you eat half a birthday cake, nine olives and the leftover lo mein, just because it’s there.” In other words, satisfying, in a very different way.
