More Ob-Gyns Refuse Overweight Patients

The Sun Sentinel says some Florida ob-gyns are refusing to see female patients who weigh more than 200 pounds because they say their exam tables and diagnostic tools can’t handle the extra weight. They say treating overweight patients also opens up the possibility of more omplications, which can lead to malpractice suits. Though it’s not illegal to refuse treatment to overweight patients, experts say it violates the “spirit of the medical profession.”
