Malaysia Adds Weight “Grade” to Report Cards

Students in Malaysia have yet another reason to dread their report cards says the San Francisco Chronicle. Schools across the country have decided to give kids a new grade—for their weight. The country’s health minister says adding BMI numbers to the report cards is a way to help parents judge whether their children are unhealthy. The Chronicle article is pretty short but there’s a big write-up of the plan in today’s Star, Malaysia’s English-language paper. Malaysia has the sixth-most obese citizens in Asia; in SE Asia, the country is number one.
