Lottery Winner Must Pay Back Colleagues $20M

Americo Lopes’ was out of luck in the courtroom yesterday. The New Jersey lottery winner was told by a judge yesterday that he must pay $20 million of the $24 million to his five colleagues. You’ll remember Lopes was trying to claim the winning ticket was his personal one, and not part of the office pool, so he could keep the entire prize. The New York Post says he muttered “They robbed me!” as he left the courtroom.
