Life for Elizabeth Smart’s Kidnapper

“You know what you did.” Those were Elizabeth Smart’s words for the man who kidnapped her, held her captive and raped her for nine months in 2002 says the Salt Lake Tribune. Smart took the floor to speak to Brian David Mitchell after he was sentenced to life in prison yesterday but instead of listening, he sang church hymns to himself and avoided eye contact with Smart. Undeterred, she continued by telling him, “I know that you know what you did was wrong. You did it with a full knowledge. I also want you to know that I have a wonderful life now, that no matter what you do, it will not affect me again.”
