Learning to Relax on Vacation

Sometimes, relaxing is hard work. In an age when, even on the beach, we are electronically tethered to the office it can be hard to enjoy a vacation says Melinda Beck of the Wall Street Journal. Only 53 percent of Americans say they come back from vacation feeling rested. And some suffer from something called “leisure sickness, which mimics the withdrawal from steroids.  Some say by checking in with the office while they’re out, they are mitigating the stress they’ll feel when they get back. That’s fine says Beck, but she recommends limiting work communication to a specific hour a day while on vacation.
