Lance Armstrong Retires, Again

Lance Armstrong is retiring. No, really, this time he’s serious. The Austin American Statesman says his approaching 40th birthday was one motivation for the repeat retirement. A bad knee and a desire to spend more time with his five children sealed the deal. Armstrong told the paper that the “nine-month-long federal investigation examining whether he used illegal, performance-enhancing drugs to dominate his sport played no part in his decision to retire.” But don’t expect him to just sit around and watch TV—Armstrong says once his knee is healed he plans on taking up marathon running.
The Statesman mentions this recent Sports Illustrated article which alleges, via anonymous sources, that a federal indictment for Armstrong is imminent.
