Students in Los Angeles can retire the old “my dog ate it” excuse says the LA Times. The city’s school district just passed a rule mandating that homework can only count for 10 percent of a student’s overall grade. It’s a decision that teachers worry could make lazy students lazier. The decision also prohibits homework from being assigned over the weekend or holidays. The Times says the trend to limit a student’s daily study load is one that’s reaching across the country as educators look for ways to ease the anxiety some students feel in the lead-up to college.
