Kraft’s Greek Grandma Ads: Bad Taste or Viral Potential?


There’s nothing like calling a woman in her 20s a prostitute to get her attention. That’s exactly what a series of new controversial ads from Kraft does, says USA Today. In a bid to woo young women, the food giant has rolled out a series of ads that are “raising eyebrows for [their] saucy language and stereotypes of Greek culture.” Featuring a berating “yiayia” (Greek for grandma), the ad spots are to promote the company’s blockbuster Greek products, yogurt and hummus. But some say Kraft’s take on culture stereotypes is in bad taste.
