A new study claims that swimmers live longer than both avid walkers and runners. But the Boston Globe wasn’t convinced. So they contacted the study’s authors to see what the deal was. And it turns out the study’s results were barely statistically significant. Further, researchers say swimming does not build bone the way that running does. After pinpointing the study’s pitfalls, the Globe’s takeaway is that “physical activity of any sort is crucial for good health and longer life.”
