Is Mainstream Ready for Electric Cars?

The first truly “mainstream” electric cars about to hit market and the question, according to USA Today, is, whether or not the “mainstream” will buy them. In the minds of many consumers, the technology fueling electric cars is a “huge gamble.” President Obama has said he wants to see one million electric cars on the roads by 2015 but experts say there are many factors which make that goal an impossibility.
First, there are very few public charging stations. And to fully charge an electric car in the six to eight hours that the marketing materials suggest, owners will need to retrofit their garages with more powerful outlets.
