Ice Cream Gets Odd

This is not the summer of cookies’n'cream. Or Rocky Road. It’s the summer, says USA Today, of weird ice cream flavors. Despite the fact that seven out of ten customers buy vanilla, strawberry or chocolate when selecting a scoop, ice cream parlors are trying to lure in new business by offering up oddities. Maple Bacon Sundae, anyone? Creole Cream Cheese? You can get the former at Denny’s, the latter at Baskin-Robbins. Ben and Jerry’s enlisted Jimmy Kimmel to come up with their latest offering, Late Night Snack, which features chocolate-covered potato chips and caramel. And over at Cold Stone, they’ve decided to add an herb to one of their best sellers, for the first time ever. Curious? Order the Strawberry Basil.
Checking out Baskin-Robbins list of flavors is a good way to waste a summer Friday
