Something called the clicker is touted as the “greatest educational innovation since chalk” on the front page of today’s Philadelphia Inquirer. It’s a remote control-like device that lets students instantly participate with a lecturer and about two million college students are now using them. They are used for everything for taking attendance to fielding questions to polling student’s for their opinion. Professors say its a joy to have such an active audience, likening the clicker revolution to “waking the dead.”
